Focus Day: Where Film and Games Meet @ Festival of Future Storytellers 2025

An event by CreatiF Center x Seriencamp exploring the creative crossroads of Games × Film – with brunch, talks, and new ways of telling stories

The FOCUS DAY: GAMES takes place as part of the Festival of Future Storytellers and was co-created by Seriencamp & CreatiF Center. It’s a day dedicated to games x film – with brunch, talks, and creative insights into the storytelling methods of the future! We will explore how good storytelling works across media boundaries – and how both industries can learn from each other by exchanging tools, mindsets, and methods.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

FOFS – the Festival of Future Storytellers celebrates creativity and inspiration. Stories show who we are and who we want to be – they raise questions and embrace nuance. The festival is where young filmmakers share their visions and contribute fresh ideas and formats.

For over 40 years, FOFS has connected filmmakers internationally while maintaining a strong link to German-speaking countries through both an international and a regional competition – fostering exchange between local and global talent.

CREATIVE BRUNCH: GAMES, FILM & STORYWORLDS – HOW TRANSMEDIA WORLDBUILDING MIGHT BE THE FUTURE OF STORYTELLING

10AM | Wavelab, Barer Straße 19, 80333 München

Video game adaptations like Arcane, The Witcher or The Last of Us show that stories can thrive across media. A shared vision, respect for each world’s DNA, and strong creative voices are key. Yet beyond the U.S., such co-creations remain rare – even as technology brings all forms closer than ever. This Fishbowl Brunch invites filmmakers, writers and game creators to connect and explore: Is transmedia storytelling the future?

With: Pierre Puget | BRAINS Narrative Studio | Writer, Co-Founder and Managing Director

CREATIVE WORLDS: WORLDBUILDING COHERENCE AND VISION BETWEEN LITERATURE, GAMES AND FILM

1:00PM | Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film, Kino 2

In his Metro trilogy, Dmitry Glukhovsky envisions a post-apocalyptic Moscow surviving in the subway, its society shaped by fear and conflict. His immersive world-building helped Metro 2033 grow into a global gaming IP, while a planned film adaptation was halted due to his opposition to authoritarianism. Through conversation with Melita Halilovic, we will explore how a strong creative vision can travel across media — and how story, brand, and community work together to build and sustain an IP over time

CREATIVE TOOLBOX: SHAPING YOUR CREATIVE VISION WITH GAME ENGINES

2:00PM | Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film, Kino 2

From animation and VFX to previsualization, virtual production, or game cutscenes, game engines let ideas be visualized early, making artistic visions more flexible. Technical Director Alican Eren Kuzu shares insights from international projects, then discusses with agile expert Ramona Casasola-Greiner how creative processes can benefit from agile methods.
